For washable cotton, blot excess coffee, rinse through the back of the stain with cool water, pretreat with a fabric-safe laundry product and wash according to the care label. Check the mark before drying: tumble-dryer heat can make what remains harder to remove.
Blot the coffee with a dry white cloth until the area is nearly dry. Pre-test a carpet cleaner approved by the carpet maker, apply a small amount to a white cloth and blot from the edge towards the centre. Rinse residue by blotting with clean water, then blot dry without soaking the backing.
Blot up as much coffee as possible with a clean white cloth. If colour remains, apply a WoolSafe-approved spot remover to the cloth—not directly in a flood—and blot from the edge towards the centre. Rinse by controlled blotting with clean water, then blot dry without over-wetting.
