Check compatibility before the test
Read the item’s care guidance and the cleaner label. Do not test a product that either source already rules out. A pre-test cannot make an incompatible chemical safe.
Choose a genuinely hidden spot
Use a seam allowance, the back of a removable cushion or another area made from the same material and finish. Use the same dilution and amount you intend to use on the stain.
Use a white cloth
After applying a few drops as the product directs, hold a clean white cloth against the test area. Check the cloth for transferred dye and the material for lightening, darkening, swelling, tackiness or texture change.
Wait until it is dry
Some rings, colour changes and finish damage appear only after drying. If anything changes—or the result is uncertain—do not use the cleaner on the visible area.
