Every treatment record on this site names its sources and the date it was checked.

The evidence we use

• Manufacturer instructions and care labels, which take priority over anything we say.
• Recognised safety and standards bodies for anything involving chemistry or risk.
• Material and trade specialists for how a surface behaves.
• Practitioner experience where it is consistent and where the question is practical rather than chemical.

One comment on a forum is a lead, not a conclusion. We look for advice that recurs, then check the important parts against a stronger source.

Safety checks that are not optional

The combinations that produce dangerous gas are blocked in the system rather than left to the wording of an article. So are methods that use a technique the material is recorded as not tolerating. If a page tells you not to use something, that is stored as a fact about that material, not a sentence someone remembered to write.

Confidence and review dates

Each page shows when it was last reviewed. Where our evidence is thinner, we say so on the page rather than presenting a guess as certainty.
