General rules for gloss painted woodwork
The paint film itself is the easiest wall surface in this family. Nothing absorbs and a damp cloth deals with a milk mark.
The risk is at the edges. Painted woodwork has mitres, mouldings and a bottom edge where the film is thinner or broken, and liquid that gets behind it into the timber or the MDF underneath causes swelling and lifts the paint from below.
So wipe the flat, dry the mouldings, and pay attention to where the run ended rather than where it started.
Check the label
A gloss or satinwood finish on woodwork is a hard non porous film, so it cleans easily with a damp cloth and a drop of detergent. The joints, the mouldings and the bottom edge are where liquid actually collects, and where it can get behind the paint film into the wood.

Gloss, satinwood and eggshell on woodwork are hard films over timber or MDF.
The film is non porous
So a milk mark sits on it and a damp cloth removes it completely. Nothing about the paint is at risk from milk.
The edges are the weak points
Mitres open slightly with movement, mouldings collect liquid in their profiles, and the bottom edge of a skirting or a door is often thinly painted or bare. Liquid there reaches the substrate.
MDF swells and does not recover
Where the woodwork is MDF, water that reaches the core swells it permanently and pushes the paint film off from behind.
Solvents soften paint
White spirit and methylated spirit will take a gloss finish off, which is exactly what they are for when stripping. They have no place in cleaning it.

authority
Building conservation procedure establishing that stains in plaster bleed through finish layers of paint if they are not sealed, that the moisture source must be found and the surface allowed to dry completely first, that the area is cleaned with a stiff brush and a damp cloth, that a white pigmented shellac is used to seal, prime and block the stain, and that the whole wall is primed rather than only the stained patch when a standard paint is used, to avoid visible shiny patches.

How to clean wallpaper, William Morris Wallpaper
specialist
Wallpaper guidance that vinyl faced papers resist moisture, soap and gentle wiping while traditional paper, grasscloth, fabric and bamboo do not, that cloths must be wrung thoroughly because damp rather than wet is the rule, that wallpaper paste is activated by water so excess water at a seam breaks the bond and lifts the paper, that surfaces tolerate gentle wiping but not abrasive scrubbing, that cleaning is done downwards to avoid drip marks, and that the area is dried immediately.
