The short answer
Remove only free surface coffee from fabric blind without rubbing or adding liquid. A dried or absorbed mark needs specialist assessment; there is no general safe bleaching or wet cleaning route.
If it has just happened
Touch a clean dry white cloth lightly to free surface liquid without rubbing. Do not press on loose decoration or add water.
Heat can set this stain permanently
Do not use hot water, a tumble dryer, an iron or a steam cleaner until the mark has gone. Heat fixes this type of stain into the fibres and makes it far harder to shift.
Test on a hidden area first
Try any cleaner on a hidden part of the material first, such as a seam, an offcut, inside a hem or under a piece of furniture. Wait for it to dry and check for colour change before treating the visible mark.
Follow the actual care instructions
Water can disturb stiffeners and coatings. Do not detach or wet a blind without maker instructions.
What you will need
- Clean white absorbent cloths Change to a dry clean part whenever coffee transfers. Avoid coloured cloths.
Fresh coffee on fabric blind
Preserve the surface before attempting to improve its appearance.
-
Contain the surface spill
Touch a clean dry white cloth lightly to free surface liquid without rubbing. Do not press on loose decoration or add water.
-
Protect and arrange advice
Keep fabric blind dry at room temperature, away from direct heat. Record the spill and ask an appropriate cleaner, conservator or repair specialist before further treatment.
Dried coffee on fabric blind
Once coffee has entered a fragile or water-sensitive surface, wetting it can spread the damage.
-
Record the spill and earlier treatment
Note whether the coffee was black, milky or sweetened, when it happened and which products or heat have already been used. Keep the item dry and avoid further spot treatments.
-
Arrange the appropriate assessment
Ask a specialist cleaner familiar with this material and its construction to assess fabric blind. Explain the coffee spill and any prior treatment. Keep the material undisturbed until an appropriate route has been agreed.
Old or set in coffee on fabric blind
A persistent shadow may require conservation, repair or replacement rather than removal.

What not to use on fabric blind
-
Water, vinegar, peroxide and bleach
They can spread colour, damage fibres or finishes, and enlarge a tide mark.
-
Rubbing, scraping, steam and heat
These can change texture, adhesion or the object permanently.
White compared with coloured fabric blind
Water can disturb stiffeners and coatings. Do not detach or wet a blind without maker instructions. Test only a route already allowed by the care instructions, let the hidden test dry, and compare colour, sheen and texture before proceeding.
If the mark is still there
Seek advice after surface first aid. Valuable objects, dry-clean-only construction, flaking finishes and unidentified ceiling texture need assessment before treatment.
Judge the area only once completely dry. If two controlled attempts make no improvement, do not increase concentration, soak longer or try a mixture. An absorbed stain, changed coating, etched surface, swollen substrate or damaged dye requires assessment and may not be reversible.
When to stop and call someone

Why coffee behaves this way on fabric blind
Water can disturb stiffeners and coatings. Do not detach or wet a blind without maker instructions.
Coffee leaves a water-based brown residue as it dries. Milk and sugar add another cleaning problem: a lighter-looking mark can still contain sticky or fatty residue. The method controls liquid and pressure because the finish, fibre and construction determine what can be treated.
These steps combine published material care with coffee-spill guidance. They are a conservative adaptation, rather than evidence of testing this exact combination. Older, absorbed or previously heated marks may remain.

Thank you. That is logged.

Why you cannot dry clean made to measure curtains, Britannia Rose
manufacturer
UK curtain maker's guidance that made to measure curtains combine face fabric, lining and often interlining with different compositions, that dry cleaning solvents can clean the layers unevenly and that even a small percentage of shrinkage significantly alters the drop, that pleats and stiffening can sag or harden, and that the recommended alternatives are vacuuming, spot cleaning with a diluted mild detergent tested first, and professional steam cleaning in situ.

Carpet tile maintenance guidelines, Interface
manufacturer
Carpet tile manufacturer's maintenance guidance: blot a spill with a clean white cloth working from the edge towards the centre, never rub a wet spill, keep a spotting solution between pH 4.5 and 8.5, avoid aggressive solvent based cleaners and optical brighteners, use as little water as possible because over wetting causes rapid resoiling and fibre damage, and replace a ruined tile from shelf stock.
